What is LFL About?

At our core, Local Food Landmarks is about the community, and was created for the people who live in it. The LFL idea began with a curiosity to explore the restaurants that surround us, but go unnoticed. At LFL we don’t focus on the latest “brasserie” in the newest neighborhood, we look for the establishments that are hiding in the middle of neighborhoods and strip malls where their success comes from word-of-mouth marketing and love from the community. Our goal is to showcase the truly authentic local restaurants of the DMV. By supporting these businesses, we play a part in shaping the community by creating cohesive and diverse culture centers that benefit everyone.

We review each restaurant on taste and charm to provide a recommendation on how best to enjoy. With each review we try to provide the history of the establishment because there is usually a rich backstory worth sharing. We hope you follow along as we loosen our belts and grow a catalog of the areas best Local Food Landmarks.
